Up for sale is an impressive vintage Christofle Vendôme cutlery set (circa 1950), once owned by my family. The set is a rare example of the collaboration between Christofle and the historic Honnorat company of Marseille, a partner of excellence at the time, as evidenced by the original plate on the case and the marks on the accessories.
Set composition (146 pieces in total):
Main service for 12 people (only one fish fork is missing, 11 total instead of 12).
• Table cutlery: 12 large spoons, 12 large forks, 12 large knives.
• Medium/Dessert cutlery: 12 medium spoons, 24 medium forks, 12 small knives, 12 cake forks.
• Fish cutlery: 11 fish forks, 12 fish knives.
• Coffee/Tea Cutlery: 12 teaspoons, 1 sugar tong.
• Serving Pieces: 1 ladle, 1 serving spoon, 1 slotted spoon, 1 serving spatula, 1 large serving fork, 1 serving knife, 1 fish fork, 1 two-pronged fork, 1 narrow carving fork, 1 large carving fork, 1 serving spoon, 1 large serving knife.
• Exclusive Accessory: Crystal and silver salt and pepper shaker set with 2 small teaspoons, 2 crystal lids, and 2 trays, one of which features the original "HONNORAT MARSEILLE" stamp.
The Original Cabinet (50x37x33 cm):
Kept in its original 4-drawer cabinet. Solid construction and working lock.
• Signs of age: To be completely clear, there is a natural crack in the wood (approximately 10 cm) on one side, the top needs regluing, and some marks from moving tape (not removed to preserve the finish). The small original key is missing.
Cutlery Condition:
The cutlery is in excellent condition, used with care, retaining its original shine, and bearing all the Christofle hallmarks of authenticity.
Exceptional price for a quick sale, calculated taking into account the signs of age on the original piece. The cutlery is in excellent condition.
