Product description
Postmodern 1980s armchairs manufactured by Castelijn, the Netherlands. These distinctive armchairs feature black leather cushions, beech armrests, slender metal legs with wooden feet, and black leather panels.
The design of these iconic armchairs—the “FB chair”—is inspired by a saddle-leather tote bag with wooden handles: sleek on the outside, soft on the inside. Along with the ‘Strip Chair’ by Bakker and the ‘DC Chair’ by Spierenburg, this is a significant design that defined the 1980s. The exact designer is not entirely clear; it may have been the duo Pierre Mazairac & Karel Boonzaaijer or Dick Spierenburg.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The leather seats have a lived-in look (with some craquelure on the front). The back panel of one of the armchairs has a slight bulge near the legs. Two small chips are missing from one of the wooden foot caps.
