A charming portrait of a fisherman smoking a pipe, executed in watercolor and ink on paper. The fisherman is depicted wearing a knotted hat and a deep blue garment. His weathered face and expression lend considerable character to this small composition, enhanced with ochre, blue, brown, and gray tones. The work bears a signature in the lower right corner that could not be definitively identified. It is therefore offered as the work of an unidentified artist. Presented under glass in its original brown and gold frame, with a circular opening mount. The frame shows signs of age and use, including rubbing, chips, and small losses.
