There are objects that carry an entire era within them. The Point Bleu "Soprano" radio is one of them. Manufactured by the Point Bleu brand, part of the Thomson group, between 1955 and 1960, it embodies the golden age of French tube radios, when every household gathered around this sonic centerpiece placed in the living room, and people would listen intently to Paris, London, Luxembourg, or Monte-Carlo. The mahogany brown lacquered wooden cabinet is framed by a golden trim, giving it the grandeur of a painting. The black lacquered front panel features two large gilded chrome knobs, a station band engraved in white on a black background with perfect readability, ivory preset keys at the bottom of the panel, and a cream speaker fabric with a golden braided pattern. The cursive "Point Bleu" signature is affixed on the bottom right. Reception across Long Wave (GO, LW), Medium Wave (PO, MW), Short Wave (OC, KW), and FM (UKW) bands. Sold with its power plug. Untested, offered as-is for decoration or for restoration by an electronics technician. Placed on a sideboard, a console table, or a shelf, this radio asserts its presence with the quiet nobility of objects from the Trente Glorieuses. It doesn't need to be functional to tell a story.
