Zoomorphic terracotta vase – Pre-Columbian Peruvian Moche/Chimú style. Beautiful antique decorative piece in terracotta, zoomorphic in shape, featuring a particularly elaborate relief decoration and a tubular handle modeled in the form of an animal. The piece strongly evokes the Pre-Columbian ceramics of the northern coast of Peru, particularly the Moche and Chimú traditions, famous for their figurative vessels representing animals and fantastical beings. The piece has a beautiful brown patina, incised and relief motifs, and several highly stylized animal elements. It also has a small opening on the body and rests on several small feet. Probable stylistic origin: Peru – northern coast, Moche/Chimú inspired. ⚠️ Please note: I do not possess the expertise to definitively confirm that this is an authentic Pre-Columbian archaeological piece. It is therefore offered as a ceramic in the Pre-Columbian Peruvian style, without definitive attribution to a specific culture or period. Could this also be a whistling vase or a sound-making ceramic piece? Dimensions: Height: 15 cm Width: 12 cm Depth: 17 cm Weight: approximately 700 g Material: terracotta/ceramic. A very original and RARE piece, ideal for collectors of antique ceramics, pre-Columbian art, or ethnic decor. Carefully packaged for shipping.
