Kashan was derived from the Persian kashi, which means "tile." The Kashan rugs look very elegant, their balanced patterns in floral ornamentation and subtle fullness of ivory/beige and blue contrasting color are very popular in Europe. Entwined flower races often surround a diamond-shaped medallion. The corners are also richly decorated.
Kashans are exclusively knotted at home. Depending on the quality, the knotting density is between 250,000 and 600,000 knots per square meter.
