For sale is an original, expressive ceramic bowl by P.A.W. (Paul & Anna Wranitzky) from Austria.
The workshop operated between 1885 and 1935. Stylistically, this piece can be dated to around 1900 and displays a fascinating fusion of Art Nouveau, Viennese Secession, and early Art Deco design.
The powerful geometric decoration in deep blue, earthy terracotta, and cream is accentuated by delicate green contour lines. The sculpted handles lend the bowl an architectural, almost sculptural quality.
A collectible piece of Austrian art and studio ceramics.
