DESCRIPTION:
For the serious collector of Dutch Design, architecture, and Amsterdam history: an absolutely unique and 100% complete museum set of the iconic 'Vase2' (double cone vase), designed by Paul Baars in 1997.
This specific piece was issued at the time by the Board of Directors of the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam as an exclusive and high-quality corporate gift. The postmodern, black plastic design is multifunctional and can be used on both sides (for large and small bouquets, where tulips cascade beautifully over the rim).
Why is this set unique?
This is most likely the most complete set currently to be found in the Netherlands. While you sometimes still come across the vase separately, this set was archived at the time as a complete preserved document.
The set consists of:
1. The original vase: Black glossy recyclable plastic (Vase2), in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of use. 2. The original technical working drawing (blueprint): The extremely rare, official geometric production drawing with all exact dimensions, cross-sections (SECTION B-B), and detail drawings (DETAIL F & G).
3. The original illustrated design tube: A work of art in itself. The tube displays a bird's-eye view of the AMC building, drawn by J.S. Faber as an official artistic homage to the legendary The New Yorker illustrator Saul Steinberg (signed "After Steinberg").
4. The original triptych/fold-out map: Includes the official AMC logo and the printed design philosophy of the Board of Directors from 1997.
