PAROLA TABLE LAMP BY GAE AULENTI & PIERO CASTIGLIONI FOR FONTANA ARTE (1980)
This dimmable table lamp from the iconic Parola collection features a transparent borosilicate glass stem, a hand-blown colored glass diffuser, and a striking transparent glass base with a unique greenish shimmer. Presented here in a stunning amber hue, the lamp also includes a black dimmer and a European two-prong plug.
Designed in 1980 by architect Gae Aulenti (1927–2012) and lighting designer Piero Castiglioni (1944–), the Parola lamp represents the perfect union of craftsmanship and industrial innovation. Aulenti—celebrated for her transformation of the Gare d’Orsay into the Musée d’Orsay—and Castiglioni—who once described himself as “an electrician before an architect”—created this series as a masterclass in both form and function.
Produced by Fontana Arte, the historic Italian lighting company founded in 1932 by Luigi Fontana and Gio Ponti, the Parola table lamp has become a true design classic.
In excellent condition, this piece exemplifies timeless elegance and superior Italian craftsmanship.
