Product description
Beautiful antique sculpture by the van Paridon brothers,1905-1920. Girl with cat,signed,numbered. Some minor paint damage but not disturbing,44 cm high. "Around 1905, brothers Pieter (1876), Peter (1885) and Hendrik Van Paridon (1887) opened a studio on Rozenstraat in the Jordaan. The brothers worked with sculptors such as Jan Verdonk of Den Bosch, who designed sculptures in the Toorop style. Many classical sculptures were made, often after antique examples. After 1920, the Paridons made mainly Christian religious sculptures and stopped making classical and modern art. Therefore, this sculpture was made before 1920."
