This rare PAO T1 table lamp, designed by Matteo Thun for Arteluce in the 1990s, is a striking example of postmodern Italian design. Thun, a co-founder of the Memphis Group in Milan and former partner of Ettore Sottsass, brought his distinctive vision of playful yet elegant modernism into this piece.
The lamp features an oval opaline glass shade, elevated by a thin stem and resting on a round frosted glass base. This refined geometric composition perfectly balances lightness and stability. The contrast between the sculptural shade, slender support, and solid base creates a timeless, minimal form. When lit, the opaline glass diffuses a warm, atmospheric glow.
