Naturalist Plate, Portuguese work circa 1980
Immerse yourself in the vibrant and colorful world of Portuguese naturalist earthenware with this spectacular wall plate. At its center sits an impressive red lobster in relief, surrounded by seashells, stylized coral, and glazed seaweed, mimicking a beach in an explosion of textures and shimmering colors.
Typical of the early 20th-century Portuguese ceramic tradition, this piece pays homage to the legacy of Raphael Bordalo Pinheiro, a master of majolica inspired by Bernard Palissy. A true decorative work of art, it is hand-shaped and glazed in a typical Baroque style.
In good overall condition, with two broken tabs.
