These armchairs perfectly illustrate the rational and functional design developed by Van Der Meeren in the 1950s: a black tubular metal frame, airy lines, and aesthetically pleasing architectural proportions.
The backrests and armrests are original, retaining their period blue upholstery with the studded finish visible on the underside. The seats have been reupholstered more recently in black leather, offering a striking graphic contrast and optimal everyday comfort.
They have a very strong visual presence, equally at home in a modernist or contemporary interior, an architect's office, a gallery, or a collection space.
The overall condition is very good considering their age, with signs of wear consistent with a vintage piece:
* some marks and scuffs on the black tubular frame,
* slight wear visible on some armrests (see photos),
* patina and localized oxidation of the original studs,
* feet showing signs of wear.
A stable and functional set.
