A stunning matching pair of vintage framed art prints by the world-famous Japanese master Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858).
These are high-quality vintage folio plates (Plate VI and VII) with original descriptive English labels on the reverse, providing fascinating cultural context for each scene.
The Set Includes:
1. Rooster, Morning Glories, and Umbrella: A vibrant scene featuring a white rooster, symbolic of timekeeping and dawn.
2. Mandarin Ducks and Hydrangea: A beautiful depiction of "Oshidori" (Mandarin ducks), which symbolize marital fidelity and peace.
Details & Condition:
Frames: Both are housed in heavy, ornate wooden frames with a gold-gilt "antique" distressed finish.
Condition: Excellent vintage character. Both prints show minor "foxing" (light brown age spots) on the mounting paper, and the frames have some small chips/wear to the gold finish on the corners (see close-up photos). This adds to their authentic period feel.
