A distinctive pair of Vicieuses side tables designed by Philippe Starck for Driade in Italy in 1992. These tables exemplify Starck’s playful postmodern language, combining sculptural form with a precise industrial aesthetic.
The tripod bases are made of polished die cast aluminium and support circular tops in maple plywood, spray painted black. A visible central screw acts as both a functional element and a visual statement, emphasizing adjustability and mechanical honesty. The contrast between the metallic structure and the black-painted surfaces gives the tables a sharp, graphic presence.
Both functional and expressive, the Vicieuses tables blur the line between utility and object design, making them equally suitable as side tables or sculptural accents within an interior.
