Charming pair of traditional Fulani hats (also known as Tingandés or Tengades).
Handmade in West Africa, these hats are crafted using ancestral techniques from braided plant fiber (baban tree leaves) and embellished with dyed leather panels forming geometric patterns and a crest at the top. Originally worn by nomadic herders to protect themselves from the sun and rain, these conical hats are now true symbols of cultural identity and beautiful wall decorations.
The set is in good vintage condition with a lovely patina. They show slight signs of age that add to their charm, including some natural fraying in the braiding and a detached leather strap at the top of the smaller hat (see photos).
Dimensions: Large hat: 38 x 24 x 38 cm / Small hat: 34 x 20 x 34 cm.
