For sale: a rare pair of Scintilla pendant lights, designed by brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and produced by the legendary Milanese company Fontana Arte, a 1972 project.
The Scintilla system was a true innovation, combining the essential and versatile design of a decorative lamp with the lighting capabilities of a technical system. Its structure of articulated chrome diamonds, its circular diffusers in transparent borosilicate glass, and its halogen light sources create an object of rare architectural elegance, as sculptural as it is effective.
Major figures in Italian lighting design, Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni worked alongside Achille Castiglioni, Gino Sarfatti, Vico Magistretti, and Joe Colombo to make Milan the world capital of creative lighting design. The Scintilla perfectly embodies this golden age of Italian lighting design, in the spirit of the creations of Flos, Arteluce, Stilnovo, or Arredoluce. Sold as a pair, which is extremely rare on the collector's market today.
