A superb pair of German ceramic vases by Scheurich, model 484-27, emblematic of West German production from the 1960s and 70s. These two pieces feature a stylized floral decoration in relief, in black, brown, and orange tones on a cream background, typical of the decorative styles of the period. The bulbous shape with a narrow neck perfectly showcases the glaze work and gives them a strong presence, whether displayed together or integrated into a vintage or contemporary setting. The 484 model is one of Scheurich's iconic shapes. Although the factory's archives are incomplete, this shape is commonly attributed to the designer Heinz Siery, a major figure in the revival of design at Scheurich in the 1950s. This attribution remains accepted among collectors, though it should be considered with caution. The real advantage here lies in the presence of the pair, which is much more sought after than individual pieces, allowing for a balanced and elegant display.
