Elegant pair of candleholders/photophores by designer Gunnar Ander for Ystad Metall, featuring gilded brass mounts, thick glass bases and colored glassware: one lantern in violet glass and one in opaline white glass.
Gunnar Ander's collaboration with Ystad Metall was particularly strong in the 1950s and 1960s, the golden age of Scandinavian design. These pieces perfectly illustrate the Swedish modernist aesthetic: functionality, simplicity and pure elegance.
Today, these photophores are emblematic items of Nordic collectible design.
