A striking pair of ‘Rose’ lounge chairs, designed by Japanese designer Masanori Umeda for Edra, Italy, in 1990. Intended as a functional sculpture rather than conventional seating, the Rose chair has grown into one of the most iconic and recognizable postmodern furniture designs of the late 20th century.
Inspired by the shape of a blooming rose, the sculptural silhouette combines sensual curves with remarkable craftsmanship. The layered, petal-like construction creates a dramatic visual presence from every angle, while the chair simultaneously offers an inviting and surprisingly comfortable seating experience. The deep red velvet upholstery enhances the expressive character of the design and beautifully highlights the chair’s sculptural qualities. Produced by the renowned Italian manufacturer Edra, known for its uncompromising craftsmanship and avant-garde approach to furniture design, these chairs perfectly embody the experimental spirit of collectible design from the 90s. Increasingly popular among collectors, interior designers, and design galleries, the Rose chair has become a true statement piece in both contemporary and postmodern interiors.
