Pair of wall sconces designed by Ravi Sing for Lightworks Resource during the 1980s. The design is based on a square, dark metal frame which holds a central decorative panel. This panel is crafted from brass and features a highly expressive, patinated finish, showing iridescent, torched-like tones of gold, copper, and bronze, giving it a raw, artisanal quality. The panel is distinguished by its dramatic cutouts: a central, horizontal negative space is defined by jagged, sawtooth-like edges, while vertical, irregular slits complete the composition. When illuminated, this design produces a complex effect. Light casts upwards and downwards, and also filters through the serrated and vertical openings, projecting intricate graphic patterns onto the wall. The brass panel is secured to the dark frame by simple, functional black clips, reinforcing the design's raw, Postmodern aesthetic. Stamped "Lightworks RR", confirming its origin.
