This pair of lounge chairs is a significant example of late 1950s Czechoslovakian design, created by the influential Miroslav Navrátil for Český Nábytek in 1959. These chairs are renowned for their ergonomic fiberglass shell construction, which paved the way for more organic, fluid furniture forms during the Mid-Century Modern era.
The design features a high-back fiberglass shell supported by a light wooden base with tapered legs and characteristic cross-wire bracing. This combination of industrial materials and natural wood results in a silhouette that is both visually striking and incredibly comfortable.
Condition & Character
The chairs are presented in their original vintage condition, offering a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire an untouched example of this design.
Originality: The chairs retain their original green textured upholstery and yellow fiberglass shell.
Shell & Frame: The fiberglass shells remain structurally intact, with some visible wear and minor age-related marks on the underside as seen in the detail photos.
Upholstery: As these are in original condition, the fabric shows signs of age, including some fraying at the edges and a naturally aged patina.
Stability: The wooden frames and wire bracing are stable and secure.
