Unique pair of handmade ceramic floor vases - Fat Lava - c. 1960/70, European origin cq design -.
This stunning pair of hand-turned ceramic floor vases, informally referred to as "Queen" and "King," features a bold sculptural design and vibrant turquoise glaze accents. Made of red terracotta clay, these impressive pieces feature hand-applied turquoise elements that provide a striking contrast to the natural clay surface.
Both vases have a light gray glaze finish with areas of transparent crackle glaze, highlighting their handmade nature. The turquoise beads and circle motifs show variations in color from emerald green to aquamarine, adding dynamism and artistic flair.
Provenance: Probably Germany or Italy, 1960s/70s. Acquired from a gallery in Cologne, Germany. Although unsigned, the style and quality suggest a link to famous designers such as Hans Welling, Aldo Londi.
