A refined pair of lounge chairs by Sormani, Italy, 1965.
This striking design is defined by a sculptural rosewood frame, where the legs merge seamlessly into the structure. This interesting construction gives the chairs a sense of solidity, while maintaining a composed and elegant line. The proportions carry a certain weight, yet remain balanced and deliberate.
The original burgundy leatherette upholstery adds to the depth of the wood. The chairs have been preserved in a good original condition, bringing character and depth to the space they are in.
The aesthetic recalls the work of Gianni Songia, particularly the GS 195 series, with a similar interplay between structure and volume.
