This pair of armchairs is the H-410 model designed by Jindřich Halabala for UP Závody (Úp Zavody), one of the most influential Czechoslovak furniture manufacturers of the interwar period. Dating from the 1930s, the H-410 is a hallmark of Czech functionalist and Art Deco design, instantly recognizable by its sweeping, circular bentwood armrests that curve down to meet the tapered wooden legs. Recently reupholstered in a deep blue-grey bouclé fabric, the pair combines the sculptural presence of the original design with fresh, durable textile. Their compact footprint and inviting shape make them well suited to a living room seating arrangement or a reading corner, whether placed together or spaced apart.
Condition and Character
Fully refurbished condition. Both armchairs have been fully restored: the bentwood arms and legs have been refinished and show a glossy, even surface, and the frames have been reupholstered in new bouclé fabric throughout.
