Introduction: For auction: a stunning, original pair of "Dora" luminous sculptures (often called Moon Rock lamps), designed by French artist André Cazenave (1928–2003). This specific pair was produced and distributed by the prestigious German manufacturer Leola in the 1970s.
Design & Concept: Cazenave’s work was groundbreaking for its "organic minimalism." These lamps were designed to bring the tactile beauty of nature into the modern interior. When unlit, they appear as solid, matte river stones. When illuminated, they emit a warm, ethereal glow that reveals the internal fiberglass texture, mimicking a celestial body or a glowing ember.
Material & Texture: These are the sought-after original versions, crafted from fiberglass reinforced with polyester resin and coated with genuine crushed marble powder. Unlike modern plastic reproductions, these have a gritty, mineral texture that is cold to the touch and sparkles subtly under direct light.
Dimensions (Set of 2):
Large Rock: approx. 30 cm (Diameter)
Medium Rock: approx. 27 cm (Diameter)
Note: As these were hand-finished, the shapes are intentionally irregular and organic.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The stone-powder coating is well-preserved with a beautiful natural patina. No significant chips or cracks to the fiberglass shells. The lamps are in full working order with their original European wiring and plugs (standard E27/E14 sockets).
Shipping: The items will be packed with professional care using double-walled cardboard and significant protective padding to ensure the delicate resin shells arrive safely.
