A beautiful pair of decorative wall panels, solid wood, probably oak with a lovely dark patina. Early 19th century, 1850-1880, French or European work. Dark carved bas-relief decoration, vertical format, featuring a floral basket and scrolling foliage, with a textured background. Carefully carved, likely originally furniture pieces, with four visible holes on the front.
53.5 cm high, 17.7 cm wide, 1 cm thick. Good overall condition. One panel is without any significant flaws. The other has two cracks running through the top and bottom, which do not weaken the wood, as well as a trace of white paint on the lower part; these are relatively minor defects. An old hook is attached to the back of each. Approximately 700g.
