Amanta chair by Mario Bellini for C&B Italia, 1960s. The Amanta model was the first piece designed by Mario Bellini for the early days of the Italian firm. He was inspired by Ludwig Mies Van de Rohe's Barcelona armchair to produce one of the very first modular sofas. This series is no longer in production, although a second version was produced in 1975, differing in a few structural points: the rear slot was removed, the buttons were removed and an additional cushion was added to the seat, but the innovation was the addition of an armrest module. The seat is cubic in shape. The frame is made from a single piece of reinforced polyester, with a slot in the middle of the backrest to reinforce the structure's strength. It features 3 cushions independent of the frame, with three covered buttons on the back and three on the seat tightening the upholstery. What's more, the chair has no base. The C&B Italia logo is molded under the frame. In very good condition, completely reupholstered in our workshop.
