You see the skyline of Bremen with the River Weser (Die Weser) in the foreground, running right through the Hanseatic city of Bremen. The reflection of the city combined with the boats on the water comes completely to life in the moonlight.
A beautiful realistic painting that is simultaneously a somewhat freer work, bringing depth and thereby interest to the artwork.
In very good condition, the canvas stretched as the artist determined, handmade. Age unknown.
