Oil on canvas. Signed lower right F. Orozco. An elderly woman and a young girl, leaning against a beached boat and carrying baskets of food, gaze out to sea, waiting for the fishermen to return. The painting style harks back to Post-Impressionism, with thick, almost textured brushstrokes and bold colors that no longer express an objective, moment-by-moment view of reality, but a subjective one, filtered by emotion. The work is presented in a contemporary, early 19th-century frame.
