Upholstery: Luxurious black Primo 88 leather with a natural, open grain, crafted from the finest selection of bull hides.
The Ox Chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner, is an iconic statement piece with undeniable presence. A bold, sculptural chair that challenged the understated aesthetic of Danish design at the time, its signature headrest reminiscent of ox horns and voluminous body showcase Wegner's organic, artistic approach to furniture and his desire to redefine traditional seating. The Ox Chair is perhaps Wegner's most striking design, reportedly inspired by his fascination with Picasso's abstract paintings, where he argued that design doesn't always have to be so "terribly serious." Wegner chose the Ox Chair to furnish his home because it was one of his favorites.
This piece was crafted in Erik Jørgensen's upholstery workshop in Denmark, where the skills required to create it are passed down from generation to generation.

Provenance: Acquired at the Bruun Rasmussen auction in Denmark in January 2021. The piece was in showroom condition; it is assumed to have been discontinued following Fredericia's acquisition of Erik Jørgensen in 2020. Estimated production date: between 2010 and 2020.
De stoel verkeert in zeer goede staat, weinig gebruikt en is van showroomkwaliteit. Het leer en geborstelde staal zijn uitstekend onderhouden. Een klein oppervlakkig plekje van ca. 0,3 cm, dat waarschijnlijk eenvoudig te behandelen is mocht dit storend zijn.
De stoel verkeert in zeer goede staat, weinig gebruikt en is van showroomkwaliteit. Het leer en geborstelde staal zijn uitstekend onderhouden. Een klein oppervlakkig plekje van ca. 0,3 cm, dat waarschijnlijk eenvoudig te behandelen is mocht dit storend zijn.
