Product description
1 - 5 very rare, comfortable, original Wilde & Spieth conference chairs S512 from the 60s!
Note: The price refers to 1 chair! A total of 5 swivel chairs are available! The last photo shows original advertising photos of the manufacturer W+S from the 60s.
Construction:
The basis of the swivel armchair is the light and graceful, chrome-plated, clean and elaborately welded 4-star base made of steel. The timelessly beautiful, opulent seat shell is well upholstered, covered in black leather and, in terms of design, clearly shows a patronage to Eero Saarinen's model No 71. The original manufacturer's label from W&S (Wilde+Spieth) is still present on 3 armchairs, and the year of manufacture: 1969 is still legible on one (see photo).
Note: 2 of the 5 swivel chairs are height-adjustable and have slightly raised foot glides (height adjustment via solid, mechanical locking mechanism and ball head lever - all parts original).
Dimensions:
Total height approx. 86 cm (approx. 81 -97 cm for the height-adjustable model)
Total width approx. 69 cm
Total depth approx. 64 cm
Seat height approx. 46 - 47 cm (approx. 41 -57 cm for the height-adjustable model)
To the manufacturer:
Wilde & Spieth Designmöbel GmbH & C0. KG has its historical roots on the Neckar. (Company foundation: 1831) Since 1948, W+S, in collaboration with the innovative architect and designer Egon Eiermann, has achieved great international recognition through the construction of high-quality seating furniture, many of which today claim "classic" status and are still in production. W+S still has its original location in Esslingen (D / Baden-Württemberg) and produces for the upmarket residential, office furniture and contract sectors and is also known for its excellent orchestra seating.
About the designer:
Egon Eiermann (1904 - 1970) is considered one of the most important German architects of post-war modernism, met Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the 1950s and was also known as "The German Eames". In Germany, he became known in the architectural field in particular for the redesign of the Berlin Memorial Church and the "Langer Eugen" building of the House of Representatives in Bonn. He developed seating furniture mainly for Wilde & Spieth, but also for Thonet and Richard Lampert.
