Original watercolor by Slava Saveliev (1944-2013), signed lower right.
Sheet dimensions: 30.5 x 12.5 cm — mounted on cardboard 50 x 40 cm.
Abstract composition in midnight blue and deep green tones, evoking an urban or port landscape at dusk: silhouettes of buildings, ship masts, and touches of white suggesting sea foam or light. The fluid technique is characteristic of the artist, playing on the transparencies of the watercolor.
Artist: Slava Saveliev, a Russian painter born in 1944, died in 2013. Having emigrated to Paris, he frequented the circle of nonconformist Soviet and Russian artists in the capital during the 1980s and 1990s, associated with the Art-Cloche movement (alongside Alexandre Putov, Oscar Rabine, Nikolai Lioubouchkine, among others).
Condition: Watercolor in excellent condition. Slight yellowing of the mounting board at the corners, without affecting the artwork. Sold unframed—frame it to your liking.
