Product description
Original Piet Zwart kitchen upper cabinet from Austrian home (1950s, Marshall aid). A special piece of Dutch design and living history: this original Bruynzeel kitchen upper cabinet was designed by Piet Zwart and originally hung in a so-called Austrian home - prefabricated houses built in the Netherlands after the war via Marshall Aid. Composition (5 parts): - 3× grutter module - each with 3 large and 2 small glass grutter trays - 1× combination module - left cabinet with glass door and 2 shelves, right open cabinet with 2 shelves - 1× closed cabinet - on the inside of the door fitted with metal storage rack(s) + 2 shelves The modules are assembled into one unit, but can be detached if desired. Design details Characteristic Piet Zwart elements: rounded corners on the inside (hygienic and easy to clean), modular layout (closed cabinet, glass door cabinet, open compartment), functional door rack and the original glass grutter trays. Thanks to its layout and size, the cabinet is not only an eye-catcher in the kitchen, but also well suited for use in a pantry, study or workshop. Condition & finish The cabinet was thoroughly restored around 2010: - exterior painted in classic green, - inside in cream white, - both finished with hard-wearing eggshell paint. In addition, the metal rack has been neatly painted black and the handles have been replaced with new ones (originally from Bruynzeel's reintroduction line). After years of use, the cabinet is in good condition, with a characterful vintage look due to some signs of use (such as paint wear at certain points and minor damage to some of the grutter trays). A restored example in this complete form is rare today. 📐 Dimensions (overall): - Height: 88.5 cm (incl. grutter module) - Width: 165 cm (combo module 110 cm + closed cabinet 55 cm) - Depth: 34 cm (grutter module slightly less deep) 📐 Inside dimensions cabinets. - Height: 71 cm - Width: 51 cm - Depth: 29.5 cm Please note: sizes are measured with care, but not to the millimeter exact. As Bruynzeel itself states, "Piet Zwart is not only the founder of the modern kitchen, he marks the beginning of Bruynzeel's rich design tradition." (See also the last two photos from the reintroduction line brochure, with information about Piet Zwart and the original design). 🔑 A unique piece that we would love to see returned to an enthusiast who will enjoy giving it a new place and function.

Some signs of use appropriate to age and restoration. Small corners of some grutter trays missing (chipped), and a few trays have been broken and glued in the past (crack/tear). Also, light paint wear and scratches visible inside and shelves (scratches), including wear to grutter tray conversion from sliding in and out. Also spots/discoloration here and there from use (stains). Screw holes are present in the back wall due to wall mounting (holes). See also detail photos. Overall, the cabinet still looks neat and cared for.
