The French artist Louis Icart produced this drypoint etching with aquatint, titled 'Venus in the Waves', in 1931. This work illustrates the refined aesthetic and characteristic elegance that define the Art Deco period and Icart's oeuvre. The piece is printed on heavy handmade paper and displays a contrast between sharp drypoint lines and soft, hand-colored aquatint tones within the blue and white color palette. In the lower right corner, the work is hand-signed by the artist in graphite pencil, while the official blind stamp featuring the Parisian windmill is visible in the lower left corner. The original remarque lines from the printing process have been preserved in the margin. The piece is professionally framed in a wooden frame with a mat and measures 60 by 50 centimeters. The artwork is in very good, authentic condition. The deep impression of the copper etching plate is clearly visible, testifying to the high quality of the original print and the careful conservation over the years. This classic print forms an understated yet striking addition to a refined interior.
