This original antique Thonet chair from Vienna, Austria, dates from around 1900 and is a beautiful example of early European furniture design. The characteristic bentwood, for which Thonet is famous, gives the chair its elegant and timeless silhouette. The chair is crafted from wood and finished with a shellac that has developed a characteristic crackle effect over the years. The seat is upholstered in textile featuring an embroidered floral motif in red, white, and green, finished with decorative nails along the edge. On the underside, the original Thonet Wien paper labels and the 'Thonet Austria' stamp are still clearly visible, confirming its authenticity and provenance.
