A black ebonized wooden bowl produced in the 1960s, distinguished by an organic form that appears to have been shaped directly from the material itself. Its soft asymmetrical lines and subtly raised central foot create a natural balance, giving the piece a sculptural presence beyond its functional purpose.
The dark finish enhances the grain of the wood while revealing the craftsmanship behind its turning and finishing. Its gently irregular oval profile lends the bowl a sense of spontaneity, allowing it to change character when viewed from different angles.
Its formal language and sculptural quality recall the work of Alexander Noll, one of the leading figures in artistic woodwork during the second half of the twentieth century, although this piece is not attributed to the designer. An elegant and timeless object, equally suited as a centerpiece or as a sculptural decorative element.
