Product description
A beautifully carved abstract wood sculpture from the 1970s, executed in solid tropical hardwood. The composition is built from a series of rounded, organic forms that appear to grow naturally from one another, creating an expressive vertical silhouette reminiscent of flowers, leaves and emerging buds.
The sculptor has made excellent use of the natural qualities of the wood. Smoothly carved surfaces, flowing transitions and subtle variations in volume emphasize the rich grain and warm tone of the tropical hardwood. The open spaces between the individual forms give the sculpture a sense of movement and lightness despite its substantial material.
Highly decorative and sculptural from every angle, the work has a strong organic modernist character and makes an impressive freestanding object.
