A few centimeters to evoke an entire journey. This small decorative plaque takes us to Salzburg, in that Austria where baroque silhouettes emerge between the trees and hills. The steeples and domes in shades of verdigris dominate a sloping garden here, while in the foreground a few figures stroll peacefully along a fence. A woman is seated on a bench. Further on, a mother accompanies her child. Nothing spectacular: simply that gentleness of everyday scenes that was the charm of mid-20th century European illustration. The design possesses a genuine graphic quality. The muted greens of the trees and rooftops, the touches of yellow and red in the vegetation, and the tiny silhouettes give the whole the appearance of an old illustration, almost as if from a travel book. Made on a rigid support with black edges, it still has its small metal ring for hanging it on the wall. Its modest format allows it to be easily integrated into a frame composition, a cabinet of curiosities, or among old travel souvenirs.
