A splendid pair of oil paintings on canvas depicting genre scenes with monks in a wine cellar, a classic and highly sought-after theme of early 20th-century Central European art. Both works feature an artist's monogram and the date "09" (1909), testifying to their authenticity and historical period.
Technique: Original oil on canvas.
Dimensions: 62 x 26 cm (each canvas only) | 68.5 x 31 cm (each with frame).
Condition: The works show fascinating signs of age. There are some slight color losses on the painted surface and water stains/fouling on the back of the canvas, which do not detract from the aesthetic beauty but rather confirm their age.
