There are objects that have watched over entire generations. This crucifix is one of them. Hung above a bed, a door, or in a hallway of a bourgeois or peasant home. It carries this history in its wood and brass. The cross is made of light solid oak, with sober geometric moldings in parallel fillets, characteristic of French religious production from the 1920s-1950s. The mitered joint assembly at the four arms is clean and solid. The molded gilded brass Christ figure is of remarkable modeling quality: widely open arms, finely crafted crown of thorns, carefully draped perizonium, feet crossed on a suppedaneum. The gilded brass INRI cartouche, in the shape of a waving banner, is attached to the top of the cross. Brass hanging hook on the back. Total height approximately 35-40 cm. Placed against a white wall or antique wood paneling, it immediately finds its place. For lovers of sacred art, interior decoration with character, or simply for those seeking an object rich in history and presence, it is a rare piece in this condition. Sound wood, patinated brass with gilding present, intact hook.
