Nico Jean Marie Blans sr. (1917-1996) was born in Heemstede.
He studied advertising and photography from 1937 to 1939 at the Royal Academy
voor Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague.
He had lessons from Paul Schuitema and Gerrit Kilian (photography).
As a painter he is self-taught and his style can be characterized as pop-art, synthetic cubism and hard edge.
This work was made on the occasion of the opening Gallery Pykuni 5-4-1968,
as stated on the back.
