Camille Bouhelier (1901-1983) had his house built in 1931-1932 (the date 1931 is inscribed, along with the letters Cle and B, on the lintel of the north door on the first floor). In 1946, he established his watch factory there (Newton brand, registered September 25, 1946), specializing in ladies' watches with lever escapements. Camille is the brother of Gaston Bouhelier, partner with Michel Boîteux in the Boîteux-Bouhelier company (established at 3 Grande Rue and dissolved in 1950), and the cousin of Maurice Bouhelier, who runs his own factory in Morteau. He buys 9,210 French watch movements in 1952 (5,010 from Ets Parrenin and 3,100 from Cupillard in Villers-le-Lac, 1,100 from the Fabrique d'Ebauches de Montres du Genevois - or Femga - in Annemasse in Haute-Savoie) and 7,990 in 1953 (4,990 from Parrenin, 2,100 from Cupillard and 900 from Femga). The company Ets Camille Bouhelier, founded on January 1, 1959, built its factory next to the house between 1965 (when it was classified in the 20-49 employee category) and 1969. Succeeding his father, Claude Bouhelier (1937-1991) expanded the business and shifted its focus to luxury watches, registering a whole series of trademarks: in 1980 Claude Hélier and Agena, in 1982 CB and Select-Watch, in 1983 Jean d'Orsay and Jean d'Aumont, in 1985 Scorpio, in 1986 Helix, etc., but also Newton…
