Elegant 19th-century candlestick whose silhouette draws its inspiration directly from ancient architecture and the grand neoclassical repertoire that permeated French decorative arts. Erected like a small column, it features a long fluted shaft with a dark patina, crowned by a capital abundantly worked with foliage. The square base continues this ornamentation with floral and vegetal motifs in relief, while the gilded-toned parts highlight the overall architecture and delicately catch the light. This association of patinas, the taste for the antique column, and the abundance of decoration are characteristic of the historicist creations of the second half of the 19th century, during the Napoléon III era, around the years . With its approximately 21 cm in height, this candlestick possesses a striking presence.
