Mounted pine veneer wall lamp by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for AB Ellysett, Sweden, 1960s. This beautifully crafted wall lamp is a wonderful example of Jakobsson’s ability to combine natural materials with soft, atmospheric light. Constructed from thinly layered pine veneer, the cylindrical shade is mounted on a sculptural solid wood bracket, creating a design that is both functional and highly decorative. The shade is composed of multiple curved veneer sections that surround the light source, allowing warm light to escape through the horizontal openings. When illuminated, the wood takes on a beautiful golden glow, emphasizing the natural grain of the pine and creating the warm, inviting atmosphere for which Jakobsson’s designs are so highly regarded. The sculptural mounting arm further enhances the organic character of the lamp. The lamp remains in very good condition, with only minor signs of age and use. One minuscule piece of veneer is cracked, but this is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the overall presentation of the piece. A beautiful and increasingly rare example of Swedish Modern lighting design, combining exceptional craftsmanship, natural materials and a wonderful light effect.
