The Gemsbok or Spiesbok (Oryx gazella) is an even-toed mammal from the family of the cave horned animals (Bovidae) and can grow up to 2.4 meters long. Its fur is sandy brown with a black stripe layer on the flank. The head, ears, belly and legs are contrasting black and white. It is found in South-West Africa, mainly in the countries around the Namib and Kalahari deserts. These are Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa.
This animal species is not included in the CITES convention and thus may be traded freely.
This item is in good vintage condition. The ears are both slightly damaged, also the horns are cracked at the bottom due to age, but structurally this is not a problem at all. This animal head still looks fantastic despite the minor imperfections. Check the photos for more details!
