Magnificent Vintage Lamp Base - Limoges Porcelain & Black/Gold - Signed Monick Schmeltz
Description:
Add a touch of elegance and classicism to your décor with this very chic vintage lamp base. It combines the finesse of Limoges porcelain with a superb black body (leather-like finish) delicately adorned with gilded floral friezes.
Details and dimensions:
Total height (including socket): 26 cm
Base diameter: 12 cm
Electrical: In perfect working order, the switch is new (matching the gold tones of the lamp for greater harmony).
Signature and authenticity:
The underside of the base bears the stamp "Limoges France" as well as the beautiful calligraphy "Décor main Monick Schmeltz". Monick Schmeltz was a talented decorative artist who worked with the renowned Limoges porcelain (notably associated with the Giraud factory). It is renowned for its meticulous hand-painted decorations and rich highlights in fine gold, often inspired by the Empire or Neoclassical styles.
Condition:
Very good overall condition. There are a few slight signs of wear on the black part, but these are superficial and only noticeable upon close inspection (please see the detailed photos). The piece remains splendid.
