A striking Dutch modernist lounge chair from the 1980s, strongly influenced by the radical geometric furniture language associated with Gerrit Rietveld. Its open construction, pronounced horizontal and vertical lines and dramatically angled backrest create a bold architectural silhouette with a distinctly graphic presence.
Executed in natural wood with plywood seat and back elements, the chair gains much of its character from the contrast between strict geometry and the warmth of the visible grain. The untreated appearance gives the piece a particularly honest and tactile quality, allowing the construction itself to become the main visual statement.
