Product description
This Venezia 01 desk lamp in red glazed ceramic was produced by SC3 Italy for Philips in Italy during the 1960s. The design is defined by its bold, monolithic form and deeply saturated red glaze, resulting in a striking and sculptural object. SC3, an Italian ceramics company, produced these lamps for Philips and released them under their own name. This example is labeled and pressed on the base with “SC3 Italy” and “SC3”, confirming its authenticity. The lamp achieved international recognition when it was awarded the iF Design Award in 1974, underscoring its significance within post-war Italian industrial design. The recessed, sphere-like form creates a controlled and atmospheric light effect, while the glossy ceramic surface enhances depth and reflection, making the lamp both functional and highly sculptural. This model is very rare and highly collectible, and is often mistaken for the Marcello Cuneo red porcelain table lamp, although this is a distinct and significantly rarer design. The lamp is presented in excellent condition, with a beautifully preserved glaze. A museum-worthy statement piece and an outstanding addition to any serious collection of Italian design.
