Model Nr135 brass candle holder by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for Markaryd AB, Sweden, 1950s. This refined candle holder is a beautiful example of Jakobsson’s ability to combine elegant materials with sculptural form. Produced by Markaryd AB, it embodies the timeless simplicity and warmth that have made his designs so highly collectible.
The design features a solid brass structure crowned by a striking red glass sphere. When illuminated by candlelight, the glass gently captures and reflects the flame, creating a beautiful play of light and colour. The contrast between the warm brass and the vibrant red glass gives the piece a distinctive yet elegant presence, making it as attractive as a decorative object as it is functional.
This example remains in fantastic condition, with only the most minimal signs of age and use. The brass has retained its beautiful appearance, and the red glass sphere is exceptionally well preserved. A wonderful and increasingly rare piece of Swedish Modern design by one of Scandinavia’s most celebrated designers.
